Hi all

This morning, my kids slept a bit longer than usual and I decided to use these spare minutes to make a shaker.
All my instruments (except my congas) are where I used to live before and I needed a shaker, so here are a few pics on how to make a good looking, good sounding cheap shaker...

As seen on previous pic, I used a glue gun (not sure about the correct English word for this), some natural hemp string, a funnel, some rice and a can of soft drink or beer.

Everyone already used a can for a shaker, but it doesn't look nice...

So, start by pouring some rice into the can...

... Using a circular pattern, keep on gluing the string following the shape of the ca (this string is what is left from the Gwoka I made and posted the pics in this forum)...

...As you go down the body of the can, some of it will still show behind the string, don't worry, this will be covered by the second "coat"...

... When you reach the "butt" of the can, just proceed the same way you started but "reversed and finish by the center of the "butt"....

Then, I found in my tool box an old ribbon and I decided to use it to make a pattern...

... And at last, complete by cutting the excess of string and glueing it...

You now have a one hour fast labour almost instant shaker that does work. It sounds good and you have a good grip to it.
