Hi all

I am pretty sure this was discussed before, but I coudn't find the topic for that, so I decided to start a new one.

My question is this: What is your setting with 3 (or more) congas and why are you set that way?

For example: One setting would be to play in front of the quinto with the conga on your right and the tumba on your left shaped like a triangle. This setting is great for rumbas, songo, adapted bata rhythms etc

Another setting would be to keep the quinto in front of you but with the conga on your right and the tumba on your left in an almost linear way.

What is your setting? What do you play? What are the advantages etc...

I hope this topic will generate many replies.

See ya

B

Hey brother. :)

I normally play 3 congas. I use conga centre, conga to the right (tuned as tumba) and super tumba to the left tuned pitch between Iya and Tumba.

When playing 4, I use conga centre, conga infront of it tuned to 3 golpes, tumba to the right and super tumba to the left.

Requinto middle (no quinto, or maybe it is...depends on who you ask...10 inches, you decide), tumba right, conga left.
Middle, little, big... left to right.

God bless!

Maybe a touch off-topic, but I also play seated with a tumba centered and 8 inch darbuka held under the left arm. Interesting to mix finger snapping and tumba bass tones.

I'm RH and Have experiements with the following:

1. quinto middle, tumba 3:00 and conga 1:00 (good for guaguanco on right 2 drums and solo on quinto.

2. quinto middle, conga 10:00 and tumba 2:00. (this is good for latin and rock/funk styles

3. same as above only with djembe in basket stand at 12:00 (for nice bass tones on the "one")
