Hi everybody,
I just wanted to let you know that my former homepage
www.ochemusic.de is now without content. It will be deleted in about a month. My new site is to be found at
www.jazzpercussion.de. You are invited to take a look. Suggestions for improvement as well as language corrections will be appreciated.
I am aware of the fact that some of you take reference and links to articles at my site. These articles, namely "The Giraldo Rodriguez Record" and "A Self-Built Set of Cajones for the Cuban YambĂș" are now to be found in the English "Articles" section as PDF files.
Regards and Happy Xmas -
Thomas

Thomas,
I actually took a class in graphic design, I also have a little bit of working knowledge; I made a CD cover for female jazz concert, and a business card for a jazz brass player. I remember that you should match colors, and design with your theme. When I think of Jazz I think of night clubs with red, or blue lights on the performers. You have grey; try picking one dominate color, a blue maybe, with shades of blue, balanace by warm color. Pick a picture of yourself performing too, those are always more interesting then those kmart like picture. I hope I gave you an idea or two.
Godspeed,
Kaban

Thank you Dicemanb & Kaban for your feedback.
@Kaban: Thanks for your input! No need to mention your credentials. Of course every advice you gave was right. However, I actually chose those colors quite carefully. I wasn't thinking of jazz clubs, though. I like more the fresh "Jazz on a Summer's Day" connotation, and I was looking for a combination of retro colors like they might have appeared on a 50s/60s record cover, because I like to be seen in a traditionalist (but not conservative!) context or genealogical line. Still, there is the aspect of visual comfort for a visitor's eyes, and so, for some reason, these colors stood up and remained at the end. Then there is the commercial aspect of self-advertisement, and of course I want to be booked today, not back in the 60s. (I'm sorry to admit this, but while some others are incessantly busy marketing themselves, as an aside I do want to remark that I'm available, too. It's a major objective of web presence, anyway.)
Greetings,
Thomas
