Finally! A happy ending.

Got all the gaps to close by very carefully sanding down the high points and gluing first one half then the other. The shell is drum worthy.

That's the original finish with all of its dents and scratches. This drum has character!

:D

I just touched up a couple of the large raw spots.

Just like Chtimulato, I was about to ask the same question on the finish. It does look like an oil finish. The fact that it’s the original finish says a lot about the work that was put into that drum way back when. Pretty awesome. Enjoy.
