http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6ZMbpat5RQ this is the Rumba i grew up with in New York City, and it still goes on today, as this is recent...it's dark obviously because they are playing into the night. We used to play up to midnight sometimes, after starting the Rumba around noon...yep 12 hours of Rumba....u play awhile u take a break, u play awhile u take a break...i miss those rumbas....I heard they have officially started again . Now Central Park is a BIG park....the jam i used hang at was off of 72nd st and broadway(its also a train stop)..and walk east towards the park and listen for the drums, usually in front of the lake...the sound in the park carries very far with 10 congas going at it....why so many?...parts would be doubled at times...normal rumba is 3 congas...but with so many cats we just doubled parts and made others up to fit...missenn the rumba...Johnny Conga
