You are correct..."la timba no es como hayer", as the old saying goes...EVERYTIME i get a grasp on what the latest style of rumba is, you'll some cats who are coming out playing something totally new, or just adding nuances on top of nuances...one of my favorite innovations being Pancho's...how he thought of to sit on a cajon grab a spoon put a tumba to the side, and bata on the floor and make this all make sense in a rumba context to me, is amazing...i can't get over the raw creativity and the fresh face that he put on this ever evolving art form....que descanse en paz...
