Are there members which are interested in batas?

I'm interested on any kind of percussion!!
Unfortunately I don't have a bata drum so I cannot practice what you are teaching on your very good BataBook ... I've heard from a friend that there's a good bata book by Amira and Cornelius... do you know that book? Do you have it?

Yes, I have this book! This is the best. My batabook is modest if one compares it to this book.
You can pratice by programming two parts. And you play it one with a stick played on the edge of your conga for the chacha. For the enu, plays with the naked hand. For two players it is very good work also!

hello laurent i to am also very intrested in bata i have been listening to bata music for some time but only recently found a teacher to study with.it is a truly inspiring and challenging form of music.the only problem is finding someone to play with.cheers

I love the bata drums. My chair is the itotele,that is the one I know how to play,fundamento. But I chipped a bone in my left wrist playing for 3 months straight getting ready for a show and it wore down my wrist bone in my left hand. I can still play but not for any length of time. Also, its weird it doesn't bother me when I play congas. Con un poco de kila kila...JC JOHNNY CONGA....

i am very intrested in batas drumming, but unfortunately i do not own a batas drum, and do not know anybody who might be able to teach me, i live in isreal at the moment and the drumming community is not very large, and not in area i live in ( jerusalem ).
what would be the best book for studying batas, and where could i get this book.

The best book for bata is" The Music of the Santeria" Traditionnal Music for bata drums by John Amira et Steven Cornelius

GOTO Pearl Drums..they make a beautiful set of Bata drums......LP's are not all that,unless they have a new line out I'm not familiar with. Also GOTO Yoruba.Com.....a lot of info on Bata drumming.....JC JOHNNY CONGA.........
