What type of music it is?,in relation to 'miking' the sound-technicians should have related experience.

Well if your talkin Shakira and Kylie Minogue, your talking "pop" patterns or some kind of what we played in the early 70's is "disco' rhythms. The engineer should know how to mic the congas, I would recommned micing the bongos from underneath. ...At your Service...JC JOHNNY CONGA... :;):

Shakira has such great rhythm that the congas will almost play themselves for you. If the songs are 4/4, use tumbao variations for your base line and let your hands do the rest. You will probably want to work in sixteenth note variations with her music.

But the situation is to clarified which Tumbao is going to be use,if it is Pop music the one used for the Cha-cha,would work good on it,if it is Rock, then that's somerhing else.

That type of full range rumba pattern of Johnny, works perfectly for Disco-Music,(that's why I always asked what genre of music is involved).Gilbert the Tones are 16th's and the slap could setting as syncopated 8th note.

Sorry Zaragmeca but my pattern is not a rumba pattern it is a pattern "I" created during the "disco" era while I was touring with Gloria Gaynor. If your thinking this is the "marcha" for rumba this is not it.....At your Service...JC JOHNNY CONGA... :;):

Well brother Johnny,I don't doubt you creative skills, but that pattern was also used in the Comparsas(Carnivals),by the conga players which was called at ritmo the Conga)'full range rumba',becouse the speed at which the congero have to play that pattern,Desi Arnez ( which used to play with Xavier Cugat Orquesta), introduced the pattern in the TV Show,'I love Lucy'(50's).

Brother Zaragemca....Miguelito Valdes was the one who "introduced" the "Conga" to America before Desi. Miguelito Valdes IS the "original" "Mr. Babalu", that is historical fact here in the USA. Desi may have made it "popular" because of the whole Hollywood thing, but every true historian knows about Miguelito and Desi. Desi contributed nothing to the Cuban musical scene here in the states back then. Miguelito was with Xavier Cugat even before Desi was even in hollywood....At your Service...JC JOHNNY CONGA.... :;):

Yes,yes,I do agree with you I only mention Desi as reference to the rhythms I was talking about becouse people would relate easy to him through the show(that's why I didn't mention that in the original post). The situation is there were several Comparsas at that time with differents percutive patterns all working around the Rumba base,I remember one of them,Los Guaracheros de Regla, with that percutive pattern of two tones and one slap following.
