PS .Desi Arnaz did not play congas, he played a little guitar. But he was a good showman and an Innovator. He created the idea of using 3 studio cameras for filming his television show, rather than just one., when he and Lucy created Desilu Productions at the old Paramount lot in Los Angeles.......JC JOHNNY CONGA

Yes i agree with you the funny thing is that as he said(Desi),he was n't thinking about the break through of the technique at that time,he was trying to save money becouse he did ask to the studio to produce the show and (amasingly they accepted).Thinking that the show would not be the sucess which (the Show)became later. They might be still beating the walls with the head.

Ok Gilbert, there are several ways to do it,you could place the two tones in the first -quarter(4/4 time signature),and the slap in the second-quarter and finish with two quarter of silence,or place the slap in the third-quarter and finish with one quarter-silence.

Standard 4/4 pattern put at 120 beats per minute or at disco speed 125 beats a minute. It starts on the and of 1. Start it out slow and "talk it" thru dudu pat dudu pat dudu pat dudupatadudupat.......I can't make it any more simple than that ... and always remember if you can say it you can play it!.....JC JOHNNY CONGA.... :;):

Ok according with what johnny set in there,in the last one you have two 16th notes,..two quarters note(each, on the second and third quarters and quarter silence),them on the next bar contueing the patterns...Johnny the situation is that in the last bar;..TTSS,the value of the slap change to quarter from an 8th note, and them continue to be an 8th, in the next one...TTS

10ks alot i got the feeling of the rythm
but the rythm is a 4/4 signature and you wrote a 5/4 signature

i think it should be:
dudu pat dudu pat dudupata dudu pat

like this its a 4/4 signature
the first part: dudu pat (the opens are the 16th note and the slap is the 8th note)
the 2nd part:dudu pat (the same as the fisrt part)
the 3rd part :dudu pat (also the same)
the 4th part: dudupata dudupat (dudupata:both the opens and the slaps are the 16th note)(dudu pat: the opens are the 16th note and the slap is the 8th note)

i guess this is the write way
i'll try to write it on ENCORE and put it in the topic maybe next week

You Nailed it! Keep it simple and it works. What do you think of that pattern and have you been able to play it at a faster pace, say at 120 beats a minute?.....JC JOHNNY CONGA....

Yea Gilbert you got it, nice sound clip. It was the only pattern I could really use playing to Gloria Gaynor's Disco music when I was with her from 74-76. Some tunes I was able to get a little funky on the rhythms but mostly played that "disco pattern". It drove me nuts, cause we played the same 17 tunes for a year and a half with her. So you had to be quite inventive without going crazy. It was fun for awhile cause I had just come out of the "cuchifrito" circuit in NYC and was looking for a musical change, and I got the call that would change my life.......JCJOHNNY CONGA.... :;):
