Rick:
" I have a book and play-along cd by Rebeca Mauleon entitled "Muy Caliente". I just started working on a Guaracha in 3-2 from the book and the piano montuno is displaced!"

Hey Rick,
I wish I was a piano player and could displace montunos. I love how they keep the groove going with such radical rhythmic tension.

Hey davidpenalosa

"I wish I was a piano player and could displace montunos. I love how they keep the groove going with such radical rhythmic tension."

I wish I could too! That's why I want to learn to play the congas. Playing along with a cd is one thing. My rhythm sucks. I need to internalize the rhythm like Raymond was talking about.

As I said before,( and now for the general knowledge of all the brothers in this forum),this feature in the cuban music started with the double bass,( by Ignacio Pineiro),in the percussion was started since the 1930's,by Dr. Obdulio Morales,(Batamu),and Gilberto Valdez,(Batanga,BataRumba),etc., and in the piano since the 70's. the name,(moving the parameter of the musical phrase in relation to the time signature). Also was used in the establishing of the 'Bep-Bop' in Jazz...If any expert asks who told you that, you could said that Gerry Zaragemca did,and let them to debate with me.Dr. Zaragemca

Greeting, the only reasons I didn't follow through with this topic was to do a test to find out how many people which fall in to 'clowning' stuff, and the rest of the percussionists which didn't fall are really the smart professionals of this forum.I would like to point out that the domination of the concept and execution in relation of 'Movement of musical phrases through time signature', is the MOST IMPORTANT FEATURES for the understanding of multiple complex patterns and the second MOST IMPORTANT FEATURE in the establishing the foundation of soloing,( not just by remembering a solos to do it,but to understand the structure in which the execution of it is builded)..My third comment is,..in the history of greatest percussionist, not one,and I repeate in case somebody could miss the point, not one have became a great percussionist by being a 'CLOWN', and there is not clowning with percussion in the countries which traditionally have a great number of good percussionists.Dr Zaragemca

Lighten up a little, I agree learning percussion is serious, but music is about conveying emotion, and humour and 'clowning' is a way of conveying emotion. It aint all gritted teeth and pain!! Dont take life and yourself too seriously, laugh back and join in with the humour. Laughter is an international language as is music. Discuss.

Discuss.

The self proclaimed unscholared pretend wannabe 'dr' needs to remove his head from his ass should he feel the urge to post further dribble.

Do you smoke crack or something then get online and post on the multitude of forums you are a member of talk shit and dribble on crap? Since when does it matter what country you are from? You assume far too much.

Does it get tiring of countless people telling you to pull your head out of your ass? I could copy and paste hundreds of comments from people around the world from all the forums you are on who are sick of hearing your nonsence and narrowheaded bullshit along with your over inflated ego.

Do this forum a favour and leave, you are an insult to this great place.

There are a lot musicians which are dead after becoming great percussionists, you might not even give yourself the change to become one, killing yourself of a heart/attach out of those jealousy/rages if you really are a percussionist, you have been smart enough to be in Australia, out of the range of a lot of percussionists which could smack you out in the percussion field, and I already know you are not that crazy to come to Houston.Keep yourself 'clowning in this forum'.Dr Zaragemca

OK OK...Abakua and Zaragemca..I believe it's time for the both of you stop this here and now...It's ok to agree to disagree, but to start "slandering" each other is gonna go no where. You would both be better off emailing each other rather than using this forum to "berate" each other....Let's keep some "class" about ourselves and not "lose it" everytime sombody posts, something that may or not make sense, or u may not agree with it, is not a "license" to attack.....I hope that the both of you can come to some understanding, that NOBODY and i mean NOBODY KNOWS IT ALL!!.....let's keep the peace!!...."JC" Johnny Conga....this is my recomendation.... :D

Yo Diceman,

bro, normally I dont get drawn in by his bullshit, I let him be and ignore his over inflated ego as many of the respected members on here have given up on him. But his ignorance, arrogance and general "Holy'er than thou" attitude on here is unacceptable. Many members have left or either dont post on here anymore because of him. I have countless PM's of support and people saying they would post more if he werent on here. He is a disgrace to this forum. But alas...
