Hi! I play conga almost 7 years. I play in few bands and I work preety hard with them. I don’t have much time for training and esercises because I have many concerts . Now I can find time only once a week to work with my technic. What kind of training would you recomand me? I could only find 4 hours pro week. What should I do to make my training effective?

Can you read music?
Do you play with any other conga players maybe in a Folkloric genre?
My questions are meant to be leading
if either of your answers were no..

"Can you read music?" - you mean the notation? Yes I can. The secound question - "Do you play with any other conga players maybe in a Folkloric genre?" - not now. But I paly in a band wher I play salsa, cha-cha, merengue and cumbia. In this band I play conga. Ther are also timbales and drum, and offcourse brass, piaon, bass and vocalists.

Yo Montezuma,
Don't play 4 hours just one day, but try to do 30 min each day.
Practice what you love is the most important. Second practice the tune structure for the band, the breaks, the solos, the styles variations etc...
I don't really know what is technique ? rudiments, independance, polyrithmes, coordination etc...
