Hello,

As far as the conga book posted on the conga place website. What is the best way to do the warm ups and rhythms in the book. Should i go in order or do certain warm up first and then pratice the rhythms. Also could some one explain ghost notes, and flams.

thanks

G'day mate.

I am not too familiar with the book. but i will do my best to explain ghost notes and flams.

FLAMS

Sit at the conga as if you are to start playing. raise both hands about 30cm above the conga. move one of your hands 5cm lower than the other. keeping them in that position slowly lower both hands to the conga head as if you were about to produce a tone. you will notice that one hand reaches the drum before the other. this is a flam in slow motion. if both hands hit at the same time you produce one sound. the flam produces 2 sounds very close together. work up the speed alternating hands. your flaming.

GHOST NOTES

raise on hand obove the conga as if you were about to hit it to produce a tone. lower your hand slowly; but instead of producing the tone touch the conga lightly with your finger tips. try it with both hands. your should be hearing a light touch sound. your ghosting.

hopefully it all makes sense.

Bless ya
