Invent your own , just keep in mind to keep the feel and that merengue swing.

Here is one that can be played on tambora and conga as well:

O O O O O B S O B S

R L R L R L R R L R

Phrase it by accentuating the 5th open tone.

Hello,
I found this link : http://www.zen30989.zen.co.uk/chap9.htm
The pattern seems OK to me, even if it is written for battery. We play it on congas with a stick.
Excuse my ploor english

Yo franc-heres a tambora pattern that I learned back in the day. I've only ever played it on Conga but you should have no problems putting it to Tambora. Its way old school but maybe if you don't know it you can add it to your repetoire:

1 a 2 a 3 a 4 a 1 a 2 a 3 a 4 a
O x S x x S x x S O O H

S-Slap with left hand
x-stick on rim with right hand
O-open with stick on head
H-open tone on head with hand

For a variation i'll make the Slap on beat 3 of the second bar a open or i'll add an extra open tone stick hit on the "and" of beat One first bar. Have fun with it.
