Whats up everyone, can anyone here tell me whats a good pattern to use for bachata. I know this is Dominican music but it sounds to me like a Cuban bolero with some modifications I tried the bolero pattern but it dosnt fit well. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I can play Bolero at least 5 different ways, and I know that one of them would fit a Bachata tune....IT IS basically a "bolero' style of music....though u may hear MORE bongo...."JC" Johnny Conga...

Thanks Johnny, I figured it had something to do with bolero. I checked the conga book but the one they have is the one I already know ( the one with the 3 open tones). Checked online with no luck. Anyone here has another variation that would work better?

yeah i'd have to go with JC with the bolero pattern working for it....but i wouldn't reccommend any congas for a bachata tune..with the guitars being the main focus there and the bongos repicando constantly against the guira ....a conga would make things too cluttered...really the beauty in Bachata is the simplicity

but if u wanna... a basic pattern maybe slipping in sum extra slaps in there around the 2+ and 4+ to add a jump to it should work.

Yeah I agree. Im just doing it for practice purposes ( Im not big on bachata). I figure It would give me a chance to get my hands on the drums while my girl listens to her music.

In its original way, bachata does not have a conga. In my opinion is a bolero son which is a "faster" bolero.

Conga? Just play like a regular bolero but faster!
