OK congueros, I only have one more question for today

Since there are literally hundreds of rhythms for the congas, should one work on one rhythm really well before attempting to move on to another one?
Thanks for the comments.
One Love,
Muata

I find it irresistable to train my hands to handle new coordinations, but there is also a lot to be said for nailing something down first. Your question suggest that you're really early on... if that's the case it's likely that while you're practicing that one rythm you're nailing many concepts down such as the beat, the clave and the hand technique. Move to other rythms when you're ready, or expand to variations... that will add taste and versatility to your tumbao, 6/8, guaguanco or whatever it is you're spending your time with.
