Sandy Perez - Afro-Cuban Percussion Workshop

We are setting up a group lesson in SF, location to be determined. All who are interested in studying with Sandy in SF, feel free to email me to be informed about future details.

As soon as we have a group of 8-10 interested players, we will start the classes.

The class will be held on Wednesday nights in San Francisco.

‘Sandy’ Ramon Perez formerly of the Cuban percussion group Afro Cuba De Matanzas will be holding an ongoing percussion workshop featuring folkloric Cuban rhythms at the Ella Hill Hitch Center in San Francisco.

Description: Students will learn authentic Afro-Cuban folkloric rhythms for congas. Some rhythms to be explored will include, guaguanco, palo
bembe, abakua, arara, rumba and others.

Students will be required to bring their own conga drum and sticks to the class.
Parking is available in the center’s parking lot. Students are welcome to join in the workshop at anytime.

Ramon "Sandy" Garcia Perez, a master Batalero / Congero, and principal/lead percussionist for 12 years with Grupo Afro Cuba de Matanzas, is recognized the world over for his expertise as a percussionist and instructor. Sandy Perez, who is a direct descendant from the legendary Villamil family, brings a wealth of knowledge while continuing the legacy of Afro-Cuban folklore from the cradle of African Culture in Cuba - Matanzas.

Welcome back Tony, good to see you are keeping busy with Sandy still.

This class is actually postponed until further notice,
and I've already started a thread with several posts
on it in the proper section of this forum.

I know, its a bit unorginized, too many cooks in the kitchen, but its nice to have people who want to do the thankless task of setting up the logistics, etc.

So, with the venue not working out, we are setting up a group lesson in SF, location to be determined. Wednesday nights.
