Does anyone know anything about the drumming and chants ?

I was first introduced to it through some stuff Ilu Aye did , and I've now been youtubing some stuff, and want to learn it..
It seems like they have their own set of 3 drums , a guira ( metal ) and are playing some type of merengue to saints I am not at all familiar with.
( Santa Marta , San Miguel )
What's also interesting, is that the chants are in spanish instead of any kind of lucumi ir african hybrid??

I would love it if someone could post some info on this , It's great stuff! Weather its some of the chants or rythems or just info on the 21 divisions..
Thanks
