Can anyone tell me about these songs & Ceromony? Do these songs follow a strict sequnce like the Oro Cantado , or can you play them randomly in ceromony? What kind of ceromony is this ? I've done Palo gigs , but we played Palo , Yuka & makuta and did cantos de Congo.. No Rumba , no spanish??? I'd love to know more about what these cats are doing??

Thanks

I know Cantos Espirituales have been used in Cajon Pa Los Muertos.

Nolan Warden had done a lot of excellent research on this musical style/relegious activity.

Mr. Warden's thesis is available here: http://www.nolanwarden.com/Warden-CajonPaLosMuertos.pdf

Some clips of the "ceremonial" music are available here: http://www.nolanwarden.com/grupocueroycajon/index.html

I'm with you thought, those Cantos Espirituales are beautiful and I have tried to throw them into rumbas, etc...
