Those guys can make any drum sing. Mopercs, LPs, LP Aspires, whatever. A couple of the LP drums they used on tour in NYC really sounded pretty bad when some other drummers sat down and played them. Deyvis, Agustin, Freddy and Luisito made all of them sound great, including some LP Aspires with thin water buffalo skins at one of the NYC rumbas when they were in town. 50% brain, 10% hands, 10% condition of drum, 10% skin, 10% room acoustics, 10% brand of drum.

Yes yes yes, of course, these guys can make a door sound good! but those moperc sound bad ass!

They sure do. But my point is that that has very little to do with the fact that they are Moperc drums, rather than just about any other brand played by the same guys under the same conditions.

That point has been driven to death on this forum, and it is well understood, They still sound badass, or according to your "scale of sound" at least 20% better than some crapola drums!

Whether the "ancestors" piece is part of the 50% brain component or is completely separate is a deep religious/scientific/psychosocial discussion that we will probably not resolve on this forum...
