I answered a craigslist ad a while back for a free conga. I couldn't really believe what I was reading, but
there it was, a free drum and the ad was only about 20 minutes old.
Anyways, it turns out the drum belonged to a musician and poet I used to play music with and he ignored
all the other replies and gave it to me. Of course I was hoping it would be something like an old valje or
gon bops. It ended up being a pretty decent Mexican drum though. In pretty good shape, needs a new skin,
but no cracks or splits.
I let my drummer friend who is also a elementary school teacher keep it in his classroom for a while, but
now that I have more time on my hands I'm going to fix it up a little and it's going to be my "park" drum.
It's an 11"er and should make a pretty good tumba for my 10.5" Gon Bops which is my other park drum.
So here are the "before" pics. I'll be posting the "after" pics later on....
