No comments on these?

I was intrigued by the solid one-piece carved shells (no staves). Are these the only ones out there like this, or are there others?

There was a thread on solid shell congas a couple of months ago - do a search. I don't believe these S. African congas were mentioned, however.

Checkout my main tubs. Mambiza from San Francisco.

They are semi hard wood, and sound as live as my Matt Smith Oak.

OOooh... pretty! Do you know the exact wood?

I am not familiar with the Matt Smith congas. Only have first-hand experience so far with LP wood Gio's. What do you mean by "as live" as the Matt Smith ones?

Motherland Music in LA imports the solid tubes from West Africa and skins them up in the shop. They are Carved from single Tweneboa wood log. I tested them nice sound but quite heavy

Thanks for the tip on Motherland! I'll have to visit them the next time I drive into L.A. and just see for myself what those are like.

I'm wondering if the shells that Motherland is getting are the same as what the two California places have?
