Hard travel cases for congas

I searched the forum, but did not find anything here on the subject of hard travel cases for congas. So I will ask here.

Besides LP, who else makes hard-shell conga travel cases?

Any issues with them? (such as conga's not being protected well enough, or cheap construction, or conga's not fitting)

What about the various shapes of conga's? How well do the various shapes/brands of conga's fit inside of hard-shell travel cases?

I have seen hard conga cases by Anvil, I think Nomad makes them too.

I used hard cases for years, but in the last few have gone to soft cases. There are several manufacturers of hard cases, the set I got came with my Gon Bops and were of the 'anvil' type, that hard fiber board, and lined with soft foam.

Of course the hard case is best for the airlines, but do have their draw backs. My drums still got worn on the finish and the chrome still pitted and pealed even though I exclusively packed them in the hard cases. I think the jostling from travel, vibration etc still takes its toll, and changes in weather, temperature, and the salt from my hands plays havic on the chrome.

I like the soft cases better. They are more compact, conform to the shape of the drum so easier to get through doors, padded and cushy enough to protect the finish without the hard surface behind always rubbing, and easy to hide and put away at a gig.

Humes & Berg also makes hardcases for congas (as well as other hand percussion instruments and drums). Look particularly for their "Enduro" model.
