i just bought a pair of fiberskyn tucked skins for my galaxy fiberglass lp's .I am having a hard time getting it centered on the rim . When i tighten it down on the conga i can see the ring inside on one side of the drum head . My concern is will it come out if i tighten it to much.

thanks rumbaman :p

Hey Rumbaman,

I had the same problem with my fiberskyns, except I had trouble putting them on my LP Classics. But what I do know is that you have to order special fiberskyns for Gio's and Galaxy congas. Only because these two models have the extended collar feature. You have to tell whoever you bought the fiberskyns from that you need the ones that fit on the galaxy model. I ended up returning mine because they just wouldn't fit. Hopefully this helps you out!!!

Besides the problem that although the companies tell you that a particular synthetic head is the one for your model but they give you the disclaimer that might not be a perfect fit, LP Galaxys starting in around 1999, the Fiberglass and Giovannia Hidalgo's, have a comfort rim that requires a special head within the brand. I know Evans does have that for their heads. I had the experience, Don't know about Remo. You might want to check that out. (This was true various years ago. Don't know if it is true still.

I had a fiberskyn and a nuskyn on my fiberglass galaxies, had no problems with them, other than the horrible sound. Both heads were put on by previous owners, so not sure of the model or anything like that.

I think you have to get the special models for the Galaxies and Gio's from LP. LP sells Fiberskyns made by Remo that have an LP logo on them. They are made to fit LP drums a little better I think. So.... you can buy Fiberskyns that are made by Remo and say Remo on them, or you can buy Fiberskyns that are made by Remo and say LP on them. You would have to go to your local LP dealer and ask for the fiberskyns through them, and then tell them you want the ones that fit on the galaxy and gio's. I'm pretty sure this is correct, but correct me if im wrong.

My understanding is that LP no longer has the "supply" relationship with Remo for heads. Now is with Evans and it has been, I said for the last 5 to 6 years. Try it but I do not think so. (You might find some "old stock" heads in some places that still have them from when Remo supplied LP).

Again, check. I know the crowns of all new Galaxys, Fiberglass and Giovanni Hildalgo's including Palledium, are different than any model, from LP or any company, therefore, they require heads that do not fit anything else.
