Mounting skin's Question

Postby Bongobilly » Tue Feb 17, 2009 7:37 pm

Hey Guy's: I see conga's that have more than a 1/2 stretch on them. I was wondering should i go more than the 1/2 inch stretch or let nature take it's place, I just want to have a drum that is easy on the hand's with out hitting the rim so much. Thank's for the information.

Go from 1/2 to 3/4" and then let nature take its couse. I f you have your "tumbao" down packed, your hands would not be hurting. Tunning wil make the head take its course anyway. I myself, like heads that sit up about 1/2 to 3/4" initially.

Hi

Last time I changed my skins (about two years ago), I mounted them flush with the rim. The skins I put are very thick. They now went down. As said before, let nature take its course.
