Nice !! brings out the grain.

If the hardware isn't too pitted, next time try steelwool for a cleanup of thick tarnish and some rust, tehen brasso for a good polish.

Got the replacement lugs from Ralph Flores at Resolution Drums yesterday.
As close as you can get to the originals, but improved.
Now it looks like a Valje. Those LP lugs were just to skinny looking.

Got the new skin on her today, from Land Hand Percussion. With this
sunny SF weather this drum will be ready to play again in no time.

This drum used to belong to Artie, a mutual friend of ours, and I always admired it and loved playing it at Artie's place. The wood grain is just gorgeous and the sound very special - can't believe Artie let it go. Just a great drum, though, and it's gone to a home to where it'll be highly appreciated.

BNB,

Is the skin you put on it an L&H mule or steer?

Looks nice.

Props to L&H for providing quality skins at reasonable prices... :)

It's an LH cow skin. Very high quality skin. This drum will be ready to play tomorrow. Can't wait.

I accidentally set this drum down a little too hard on the cement the other day.
I played it for a couple of hours and this morning found a couple of cracks.

One is new, and the other has been repaired twice already. Oh well looks like
I have a bit of work ahead of me. Should be a quick fix, little glue and some
more Watco oil and hopefully ready for the rumba this weekend.

I've got some ideas to hopefully make the repair a bit stronger.

Poor you, must have been quite a shock, and the split is pretty wide :o
But you are right, the crack looks easy to mend,
Titebond III does wonders.

BNB,

Are you using any kind of rubber protection on the bottom?

Of course, top or bottom. I believe in being safe and in planned parenthood.

But what does that have to do with my drum? :?
