Vintage French bongoes

Postby congalou » Wed Nov 25, 2009 9:38 am

Hello !!!

Here is some photos of a restoration I made. Old French bongoes "FRANCE PERCUSSIONS" from 70' - 80 I think.

The guys who working on it were gooooood !!!! Very nice work !!!!

The wood is Acajou (kind of Mahogany, I think).

I have change skins, one hook, repare one little split, clean.

And the sound...... Perfect old school bongoes !!!

Looking good, very nice set I reckon.
Great restoration job! The skins look pretty good.
BTW you did leave the original varnish, is that correct?

Hi Mike !

I just clean the varnish (wich is very good, even after some years old). Maybe the photos don't show it well.

It´s all right - I did not do anything about the varnish with my Dutch bongos from the 1980s either.

But anyway, the varnish on your French ones seem to be in pretty good shape.
Enjoy them as much as you can!

My best regards

No, it is really Dutch , a brand called SUPERCUSSION
which made fairly decent instruments, also the congas
are said to have been good.

There is some more information here at the bottom of the page: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=964&hilit=supercussion
