Now, if only King would sell me his IF he ever wants to part with it AND Abakua is nice enough to let me have the honor.
Your drum would be a prized addition to the set I'm putting together (and much needed as I can only find quintos of this vintage).
I can even work in a set of Kings to sweeten the deal.

deerskins You are no doubt a lucky one. Congratulations, I can’t wait to see the finished product. Is Matt going to do a full restoration? Shell, bands, re chroming or plating the hardware? Dario gave me some good advice when I set out to restore my Requena, something that I think you too should consider. The fact is that these drums are generally pretty thin and so if possible you would want to have it re enforce it with an Alma. I am very glad that I had one put on it really gives me a piece of mind.
It sounds as if you have some other gems stashed somewhere, if you do what are they?
Man a couple of Kings huu...Man your tempting me brother, oops, just kiding ABAKUA  .

I haven't even talked to Matt about it yet, it probably isn't even there yet.
I'll just take it easy and let things go in a natural way...I have a few other things I need Matt to work on anyway...all in good time.

I really don't want to hijack this thread, but since you asked......

It was actually Gene Golden, back around 1976, when he came in a gig with Willie Colon and Hector, he was subbbing for Milton Cardona on congas, that gave me Junior Tirado's phono number and that was my initial contact with Junior. It was via Gene.

oooooo.....nice!

Patiently waiting for that beauty to come back to me :)

I hope Matt is doing ok and that he is doing well, spoke to him a few times on the phone.
He is super nice, considerate, appreciative, respectful and grateful.
He thanked me for the opportunity to restore this drum and he said it is an honor to work
on a historical piece and he is happy to do it...talk about a great attitude!
