@docarroyo What is that black drum with the white pinstripes - like a movie gangsters suit. Interesting hardware on that, and it looks to be about a requinto.

I do not care what others say you know your stuff. I also know stories about people but was told to keep quiet so I do not cause problems.

Best not to air other people's dirty laundry sometimes. On the upside that is a beautiful looking drum, I love ths shape, I'll bet when you get her up and running she's going to have some beautiful bass tomes.

Robert the striped drum in the background is a King Conga made in CA back in the 70's. Its a requinto your correct and it sings like you would not belive. Heres a photo and I hope it does not hijack the thread with everyone posting pics of thier King Congas.

King congas were made around SF California in the early 70's. Armando Peraza was the initial endorser, he still has a bunch of them stored away. They have a sound of their own. Good for accostic settings, they don't project that loud. You couldn't used them in a Salsa band with horns.

Enclosed see mine, I sold them a few years ago.

Here some recent photos of the Junior conga fabricated utilizing old barrel, I just cleaned it up polished the crome, the hooks are original Junior from another of his drums, the extenders and crown are obviously not original. The crown or rim is SOS steel unchromed which fits in with the hooks and old barrel bands. The hangers are shorter than the original giving better tunning options, I had the original crown fitted with hanger but I do not like the way it turned out. The head is an almost black mule skin from Cali at JCR which I found after digging thru many of his skins, and although not really broken in it already is producing beatiful powerful tones. I have kept it tuned at lower tones so as not to over stretch the skin too early and she plays some mean bomba and tumba.
