Thoughts on Top Tuning vs Side Tuning Systems

I'm after some new LP Classics and notice the same model is available as both top or side tuning systems. I understand that the top tuners should make the tuning precess somewhat easier. Any other thoughts on the pros and cons of each system or your own experiences? Thanks!

Hello.
I never played top tuning congas myself, but a friend of mine, who is a professional player, told me once it was easier to (re)tune them during a gig, because you didn't have to move the conga(s) to have enough space to move around.
