I started a little project yesterday. i'm going to refinish my tubs. I have a couple pics but don't know how to post. help me someone? I'll post more pics as I make progress.
I always use myspace to host my pics, then just hit the image button and pase in the url. Theres probably an easier way to do it, but this is the only way I've been able to post anything.
deadhead they're cheapies from china, but they sound darn good. here's another pic. btw i'm doing the quinto first and will post a pic this evening of it with the stain. it looks pretty good.
I admire your refinishing action and propably your tumbadoras feel good in your hands.
Those light stains are made cause of deeper scratching? Will you leave it that way? Are they heavy? I sense it as Oak, but I ain't no carpenter... They remind me of ash too, but you would know that by the weight...
GuruPimpi thanks for the encouragement! Yes they feel heavy. They look like ash but i'm clueless to what it really is. Sounds good so it doesn't matter but it would be nice to know . The light parts on the wood look like bleach stains not scratches. When I stained the quinto the bleached parts ended up darker than the rest! . I'll post a pic of the first try when i get home from work. it looks really nice so far though.
Hi AlexV. Would you kindly let me know how you did this refinishing? It looks very fine! Did you remove the lacquer first or did you just drop the new colour onto the old clear lacquer? Nice work! (<- I love this smiley, it looks so content/happy ^^)
Congaroo they're actually not finished yet. what you're looking at is just the conga stripped and sanded down. I'm having problems trying to resize a picture. when i figure it out i'll post it.
don't look at the ghetto target garbage bag on the door either please . I'm going to sand it down lightly and re stain it. you can see the spots parece una mierda but oh well. we'll see how it looks. some people are confused to what i'm doing. i'm getting rid of the red. i want a real wood look.
Alafia Abure AlexV! Espero que todo este bien contigo mi Pana!
I've been there, what with stripping and refinishing a set or two of drums. Tremendo trabajo! I noticed that it appears that when you sanded the old finish, you sanded "across" the grain, I could be wrong, but thats what it looked like. I've always heard that you should sand along with the grain of the wood, not that I'm a professional, but that's what I did!
I also used an electrical sander which I borrowed from my son-in-law, made the job way easier, not totally easier though, it still required some work!
In anycase, I wound up stripping, staining, and re-stripping a couple of times till I got it to where I actually wanted it! BTW! This set was my LP Palladiums, I just got tired of the nasty finish they came with! Personal preference is all!
Here are some pics: BTW! It's fun to see your work take on it's beauty when you are the one in charge! Great Job Papa!
