vinnieL,

Great job, bro! What a great transformation! I'm sure that you're a happy camper!

I'm aware of your skills in carpentry/furniture-making.

Congratulations,

Thanks Manny you know it's really rewarding to own a conga that you put a lot of work into. I have 6 classics and out of all of them i really appreciate the ones that i put work into. You know we experiment with our finishes and skins etc. but when we get them to the point that we are completely happy it's a great feeling. I know many of you feel the same about your congas or bongos ad shekere's etc.

NIce work Vinnie. The old stain from the previous finish gives a unique grain enhancement.

yes it sure does i thought about working it some more but i thought well it is an older drum i wasn't looking for a new look so i left it as is. The night before i was thinking i would put a super thick and shiny finish on it but decided against it for the same reason.

Nice job, now all you need is traditional rims!

vinnieL wrote:thanks guys I take all the stand brackets off all my congas. I just put the screws back in like Abakua does and Olsongo.

So do I, as does everyone that uses basket stands.
However since you sanded & refinished them I thought you fill them in.

I'll tell you I love my congas but there is also one other piece of equipment that I love and thats my throne. It's a pork pie throne and it's expensive but it literally saves my ass and my back! I can sit on that thing for hours on end it is so incredibly comfortable and well worth the price to me.

Man I second that, a good throne is well worth the extra money, especially if you gig regularly and are sitting for extended periods of time. I use a tama ergo rider, but I've heard great things about the pork pies.

I've got one of those Pork Pie thrones. They are awesome. I got it 2nd hand for $50 in perfect shape. It's sparkly gold on the sides and leopard
print on top.
