Off-topic a bit but I want to put in a plug for Turkish workmanship. I'm rebuilding a very old house and have a lot of stone-workers, iron-workers, wood-workers, and more. They all take great pride in their work and know that what they build will live on after them. They take whatever time they need to do it right. Lots of talk at the tea-house about the crap products coming out of China. Turkey sends guest-workers all over the world to study and learn from others.
I know Akbar learned conga making from Tom Flores. But, he also learned from his prior experience and he has that great pride in his work that I see so often in Turkish workers. Plus, music, and especially percussion, is something every Turk grows up with. SOLs hold their shape, they don't crack, and they sound GREAT. Akbar learned well and Turkey is proud of him.
Nice drum BNB.
