That's the nature of a forum, you can't always expect your post to generate the level of interest you may want. Also it helps to become a member of the forum, contribute, comment, prior to asking questions, establish and identity and presence. This forum gets a huge amount of members that post 3 times, only asking questions, never contributing, and then never heard from again. For those of us that have been around the forum for a while, that gets rather wearisome.

Well, I am staying because I see many of you are sincere, I will try to explain and respond to all the comments, I have a full time job and I don't spend hours online and I am a craftman and experienced wood worker, I had a question about the interchangeability of LP hardware specifically crowns or rims, hoops whatever they are called, I search this site and all over the web to no avail, that was the reason for posting my question.
Although I am fairly new at congas, I have been around forums for quite sometime and I definitely know the protocol but there are times you have to post a question.
I really appreciate all of your comments and encouragement to stay and I will, I must say I have learn alot since I been here, I really do thank you all.

Dakest

I too have had lots of questions and most people are generous to help me and some of my inquires do go unanswered. I do not think that forum members purposely do not respond, they just maybe do not have an answer or the issue is previously addressed at length in the achieves. Some issues are learning experiences that must be experienced on your own through trial and error. It is so much easier to just buy a good set of congas and play and learn, but I also like to tinker and build.

My private messages have a very good success rate of response—some far beyond my expectations. When I can give back I certainly will. There are also some responses I have not written because I have not completed my efforts as of yet—but I will. I understand that just because I inquire this does not mean I am owed a response. There are a lot of open ended formal rules when people of lesser knowledge are seeking greater knowledge from the experienced.

I have read every thread about skins, read almost every American blog on skin selection, contacted the knowledgeable suppliers and talked for 20 minutes without a sale--these people surely give more than they received. But in the end the final decision is mine and if my expectations are not realized, then that is a learning experience and knowledge that I will now have.

I thought I was intermediate until I joined this forum and realized that I was truly a beginner. If I had read some threads earlier I would have not ventured down certain paths, but I did—amature mistakes—yet still a learning experience.

Even if I just read every thread on this forum and did not communicate, the wealth of knowledge and cultural experience is well worth membership. You have decided to stay, good choice!

Peace, Marcus

If someone has not learned anything from this site, then they are clearly not taking the time to read the history and wealth of information here.

This sight is full of valuable information although it is not always for playing different patterns etc. For me videos and my connections made through this forum were better resources for patterns. The nature of the beast is that it is easier to discuss rebuilding, finishing hardware etc than it is to explain patterns. I don't post as much but I am looking all the time. I would not leave the forum after all it's not costing you anything to keep your membership and the connections made here with great percussionist can lead to more learning outside of this forum which has not only made me great friends but awesome ideas. I have met great people here and a couple of them I consider them mentors. stay and hang out no harm in that.

Dakest as far as playing patterns I would contact johny Conga I think he does skype lessons as well as sharing a lot of historical information. he is a fantastic player and educator. I'm sure there are other guys here that might work with you. Just look at this sight as being one tool to get you where you want to go. A carpenters main tool is his hammer but he also needs saws, drills etc this site is one tool but has the means by which you may acquire the other tools.
