Hey, wait a second, that other thread was 3 pages long and had a lot of information and discussion.
I really object to it being erased! That was the wrong way to go about it. I want that other thread back.

I think a better solution is to move the other thread into this one, it may have been the exact same topic, but
it did not say the exact same things!

We dont need multiple threads on the same exact topic. Thats just the way it is.
Merging the topics was not possible, forum software wasnt allowing it.
I will try to have the posts retrieved and return them into this thread while also having the owner look into the 'merging threads' option for admin.
I will also try to have the thread merge to this one if possible.

IT'S AMAZING HOW ONE CAN HAVE SO MUCH POWER, WITHOUT HAVING THE ABILITY TO SEE THE WHOLE PICTURE. ABAKUA, I'M JUST GLAD YOU'RE NOT THE ONE THAT HAS THE RESPONSIBILITY OVER OUR NATIONS NUCLEAR MISSLES. THE INFO THAT YOU HAVE FOUND SO CONVIENIENT TO DELETE, WAS NOT JUST THE SAME OLD THING. YOU HAVE DELETED IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT DESIGN, AND QUALITY ISSUES CONCERNING ISLAS. YOU SHOULD HAVE MOVED THAT INFO HERE, AND IF YOU COULD NOT, THEN YOU SHOULD NOT EVEN MESS WITH IT. SENSORSHIP OVER LEGITIMATE ISSUES IS NOT, AND SHOULD NOT, EVER BE, AN ACCEPTED PRACTICE. THIS IS VERY DISAPPOINTING; AND IF ANYTHING, THIS MAY PUT ISLA PERCUSSIONS IN A BAD LIGHT, BECAUSE OF SUSPICIONS OF IT'S POSSIBLE INFLUENCE OVER THIS BOARD. IF THAT THEME, WITH IN THE TOPIC OF ISLA WAS LEFT ALONE, IT WOULD HAVE RAN IT'S COURSE, AND WOULD HAVE EVEN EVENTUALLY ENDED ON IT'S OWN. ALL PARTIES WOULD HAVE BENEFITTED FROM THE INFO. AND ISLA WOULD HAVE LOOKED GREAT AT THE END OF THE DAY, BY THE THREAD CREATING EVEN GREATER AWARENESS OF IT'S BRAND NAME AND THUS GENERATING GREATER SALES.

THIS SENSORSHIP IS AN INJUSTICE, TO ALL MEMBERS HERE, WEATHER THEY KNOW IT OR NOT. BECAUSE, IF THIS IS ALLOWED TO HAPPEN NOW. IT WILL SURELY CONTINUE TO HAPPEN AGAIN, FOR ALL THE WRONG REASONS.

ABAKUA. PLEASE DO WHAT YOU CAN, TO MAKE IT RIGHT, BRO.

CHARLIE.

We have a thread for that, we are in it, lets keep it in the same thread then please. The other thread should not have even been created, there was no need for it in the first place. Of course content is going to start to differ when you create another thread on the same topic. It creates confusion and makes the topic and discussions hard to follow and you also miss info as a result.

Im fine with the deletion, if people really feel the post is going to hurt Isla. I dont feel that way. I think it was constructive, but reasonable people may disagree.

The way i see it, this board does not need to be democratic, or upholding the ideals of free speach here. Its a forum to sell and discuss drums in a positive way. I'm cool with that, now that i know.

I'll keep my honest reviews to myself from here out.

So are you saying that no one on this board can discuss their issues regardless of manufacturer? So I suppose it is also wrong when someone post about a negative about LP or Meinl etc? Because this is an open forum people are allowed to express their opinions. Thats exactly why most of us are members here to get good information on drums, music, playing tchnique etc.

SB71,

Thanks for your kind words about the blog, etc.

Yes, you are right, i should not have used the term ass kissing. Blind patronization might have been better. I think we are a bit sensitive, no?

I don't feel the spirit of this boards administration, and several of its members supports frank and open discussion here, so i will take it elsewhere. That's one nice thing about the blog, it would take a constitutional amendment to censer me there.

I think the deletion of the other thread was an exercise in really poor judgment on the part of site administration.

First, when was the last time a topic drew three pages of posts in a single day? The discussion that was started was obviously of great interest to the site participants, and the back and forth (as I mentioned in my deleted post...) was far more instructive than most on a particular conga model, etc. in other threads. A shame to cut it off, and divert attention away from the discussion of the drums and onto board-related policies. In particular, I feel badly for CongaDR, who took the time to compose a lengthy, thoughtful and balanced post regarding his experience with Islas. He had criticisms of the drums, but was also careful to praise the sound quality, and went to great lengths to point out that much of what he saw as problematic was a natural part of "growing pains" for new drum makers/manufacturers. Any manufacturer that would have taken offense by that post should not be in the business of selling drums or anything else to the public, and Pili's post in the same thread made it clear that Isla is receptive to feedback, sensitive to some of the issues raised, and actively trying to refine their drums.

Second, the "no double threads policy"--if indeed it is policy--seems to be arbitrarily enforced. For example, in addition to the now deleted thread and the lengthy " "Isla Percussions-Quality?" thread, there are three other threads titled "Isla Percussion" on the first two pages alone. There are also multiple threads dealing with similar/same topics related to Matthew Smith, Volcano and other makers. Coincidental or not, the deletion of the particular thread in question raises unfortunate questions regarding board integrity and just how free posters are to express their opinions.

If those posts can be retrieved, that will obviously be for the best, but in the future it seems like an "erase first, think about the implications second" policy regarding threads isn't the best way to go. And perhaps clarification of what deserves a new thread v. not, or the creation of subforums for specific brands is in order.
