yep, the table moves... My kids were around. You can also spot the Evil eye I send them!

These are quinto, conga and tumba for Bauer standard, but they actually are requinto, quinto and conga according to most brands.

I thought your quinto looked really small!- the "vintage" quinto is smaller still:

9¾" x 29" Quinto Classic - Dry and Warm
11" x 29" Conga Classic - Dry and Warm
11¾" x 29" Tumba Classic - Dry and Warm
12½" x 29" Super Tumba Classic - Dry and Warm

9" x 29" Quinto Vintage
11" x 29" Conga Vintage
11¾" x 29" Tumba Vintage
12½" x 29" Super Tumba Vintage

Interesting how they did that. Anyway, they look and sound great - enjoy.

You are absolutely right.

I of course knew the sizes before I purchased them, and I am really happy with them!

The 9 3/4 is just wide enough for my big hands and I do not need to stretch the skins too much to get a perfect sound out of them.

I love the vintage, but they are not distributed in France anymore due to the wood that tends to split in our temperate climate. They had too many returns because of that.

Maybe one day I'll get their super tumba which actually is a tumba.

Yes, mine are cedar.

I cannot remember the wood used for the vintage, but it is easy to find.

Hi all

Just an update for those who were following this thread.

The Bauers are just amazing ! the sound is from far the best sound I ever heard from congas.

Now, the only problem is that the three drums split with time. The wood doesn't seem to like the weather where I live (south of France). They all split in several places and one of the plates just broke when detuning the drum. It seems that there was an air bubble in the metal.

So I was kind of pissed... The splits started to show up about a month after I received the drums.

When I finally shipped them bask (about a week ago), the splits just multiplied even though they were stores in a dry and warm place for a few months.

I exchanged them with 4 congas from the brand Roots.

Roots is a brand produced in Asia, just next to LP factory. The shells are just like LP and hardware is much better with 6 hooks and strong plates.
The skins are also very good, thick and warm sounding.

For the price of the 3 Bauers, I was able to get 4 Roots plus an extra Gator bag.

I haven't really tried them yet, but I will very soon and let you know.

That's really too bad about those Bauers. I'm sure it must have been frustrating. Hopefully your new drums will provide a better experience.

Lemme try to post a pic here.....

Notice the Bauer looking plates?

The shells seem very nice and the bottom part seems smaller than regular wood shells. Just like fiber Patato series.
The "classic" rim is just so nice, I love these, better that comfort curve, they give a vintage look to the drums.

They also have strong and steady rubber feet and they come with nice basket stands.

They have 6 hooks and the brand carries super tumbas too.

Nice-looking drums for sure, akdom.
Are the shells made of ash?
I wonder if the skins are water buffalo?
Peace & drum

Hi Akdon!!
je suis desolé pour les Bauer!! really sad think,I just can imagine the deception!!
But this set of roots tumbas lok very nice indeed, maybe you can post a nice video to sow us the sound of it.I'm happy that you found an alternative to bauers. The tradicional rims are just beutiful and the ash is strong and responsive.Best luck for you!!!

Climate here is temperate.

It was during winter (march april) so it was around 20 Celsius inside the house...

Anyways, here are a few pics of my new set: quinto, 2X congas and tumba.

The xtra drum on the pics is the tumba they delivered by mistake.
