Is there any need for this on Here. Myk stop attaching people you are tipping the balance here keep the harmony and peace man.
If you were in the same room with all us guys would you be so brave as to shout such provoking remarks?
I think not as you would most defiantly end up on your ass rubbing you chin wondering WTF hit you .

RESPECT its not hard, if you have frustrations or anger seek professional advice, understanding yourself first before judging others.

I'm not defending myk and I'm not taking sides ... but he's not the only guilty party in all this nastiness.

Mr Mike, stop writing me stupid PMs calling me a Hypocrite , a title which best befits you. As we recall on a different post you said that you were putting Leedy on IGNORE, and you have failed to do so... by coming in here to antagonize him again and again , leading me and others to question your credibility . So to me you are just a zero on the left, your credentials tell so ...in the world of congas and music you don't have any influence over me or can teach me anything I don't already know. Congamyck take the word conga off your name as you are insulting a wonderful instrument strong in tradition. A sax player you may be, but a conga player you are not; I know that for a fact ...we don't behave like that.

^ I could care less what you or your djembe playing friend in KC thinks.
That punk got mad cause I won't let him touch my instruments - he breaks everything he touches.
Who cares what you think. You took lessons from him, a half-ass djembe player that can't play his way out of a wet bag.
He doesn't play congas or any other instrument.
He can't even play clave, guagua and he slows down every song he tries to sit in on.
Ask Agustine - he will TELL YOU WHAT"S UP.

The fact that you took lessons from a fake djembe player tells me all I need to know about your skills.

Yes I know that is why i like to give him shit, I know the people he hangs with and they have told me that he couldn't play his way out of a paper bag, he plays at the sax and collects percussion instruments. I have been meaning to tell him that i hate those fn Mopercs they have too much metal in the hardware, makes no sense and the design looks like shit. I think i told Abakua what he is all about.

I may be going to Colombia in November, so i may get some goodies myself.

Myck , well now you know what your antagonistic behavior has ripped , we don't say those things about no one else on this forum and they respect us for that and the other members have come to their own conclusion about you . The proof is in the pudding. My friends and respectable percussionist with may years of experience of teaching and playing in the KC community would not lead me straight, you are just an instrument collector. And the photos that you post on the Kansas City scene tell their own story , in the rumba pics you are no where to be found ..not even playing clave, so what do you say to that ? You are just a wanna be, frustrated musician that goes on forums discrediting the real musicians.

I'm not in the photos because I'm taking the photos - figure it out.
I have plenty of photos but they are not for you to judge or to have the pleasure of viewing.

Speak with Agustine, he will set you straight.

Wow, somebody opened up the closet, you guys have been having too much fun behind closed doors, I hope one of us doesn't turn out to be like that guy from NY who drove to Texas to burn down that dude's house because of something he said in a chatroom! Jeez, leave it alone fellas! BTW I still think mopercs are bad ass drums, maybe there's a bit of anti-canadian bias on the board

Spam, spam spam, spammity-spam-spam, spamma-jamma from Alabama, this freakin' moron doesn't know when to quit! I'm sorry but WHO THE HECK ASKED ANYTHING ABOUT MEDICINE? I kinda feel like that dog on the one post, "Make it stop" Go market your bull crap somewhere else.

But getting back on topic, ON THE TOPIC OF THIS FORUM, more epcifically the topic of this thread, I gotta say that video was awesome! I have a set of LP Aspires myself, and my solos sound awesome (though mine are more merengue; I want to watch this vid and pick up a few ideas for soloing w/salsa :) ).

I never thought of Aspire congas as "beginner" congas because they cost some serious dough. And at this point we've all seen the video and know a good conguero can sound great on them. So what is the difference in sound between Aspire drums and say LP Matadors? I guess what I'm trying to figure out is, what makes LP Aspire a "Beginner" set?

It is the conguero that makes the music not the conga. I have Aspire congas and they do vary in quality but overall they do have their place with the right set of hands.

I like to consider the Aspire congas to be in the same class as my favorite electric guitar the "Danelectro". The Danelectro is the old Sears catalog guitar that came after the Silvertone and the body is a hollow body MASONITE construction. Despite this humble construction many greats like Jimmy Page made it equal to the Les Paul and played great songs like "When the Levee Breaks" and "Kashmir" with the Danelectro.

You will find many examples on YouTube of fine drumming on humble equipment and poor drumming on fine equipment. It comes down to a musician's skill level for the quality of music. Of course a good player sounds better with better equipment but again it is the player that ultimately defines the sound.

Stop the bickering and keep it fun. Happy New Year, may it be a new beginning for us all.

Jerry

I totally agree with Jerry’s comment about skill level but with no disrespect to any of my fellow conguero bro’s who own ASPIRE series congas, I myself having owned a set in the past, one of the facts that we can't ignore, is the known fact that the hardware on these drum is very flimsy, mediocre and definitely not pro-grade, that’s including the skins. I have seen, in more than one ocassion, the rims bend out of shape as well as the lugs. Also, given the size of the ASPIRE DRUMS, you will never get a full sound out of them, at least not the same that you get from a larger, better skinned drum.
And "Keeping it fun"
