Ah this is great stuff. What an education via the art of photographs; images of our "other women". Awesome!
That said, I feel I would like to add my .02. Some of these have been in my "for trade/sale" postings. Some not. Be that as it may, it's another glimpse into another percussionist's treasure-trove of mistresses. I call it "Conga-Porn as Art"

Hey Paul, the girls look great! Do they miss me? The Kings are happy here, nice & warm in front of the fireplace. Snow & frozen rain on the ground, 24 degrees outside, tonight's gig cancelled! Buck

Aloha MaSSivo,

Notice the my 1950's Gon Bops bongo' goes with the above congas, from the same time period. Notice the Gon Bops of California tag on the bongos and the congas.

Aloha Dario,

You are truly blessed to own that vintage Bongo and a piece of history. I was fortunate and blessed to find these Congas on CL the other day for $150.00 for the set. The shells are scratched but staves are intact with no cracks. The hardware is tarnished and the lug threads are straight. The bands are tight and the original heads have minimal wear and they sing!! I plan to restore them to their original beauty along with a matching Super Tumba I picked up last year. I noticed that both tubs have alma's which appear to be standard hardware due to my other 50's GB Super Tumba has the same type alma mounted the same way. I'll try and post pic's after they are restored.

Keep on Poundin'....Aloha, maSSivdrums

Abakua,

On the enclosed photo you did not mentioned Luis Miranda, who is seated on conga between Chonguito (Wilfredo Vicente) and Patato. Luis and Graciela are the only ones on the photo that are still alive, everyone else is "rumbeando en el cielo". Luis lives in Las Vegas and is still active. I played with him several times here in Miami, he lived down here a few years.
