Let's see a picture of those LP's with the Valje, you know, the whole set together.

Yesterday, at band rehearsal, I beat the heck out of them for 3 hours - great fun.

One of the closest matching mismatched sets.
Awesome. Looks like a great set of 3.

Thanks. At least the wood of the Valje and the LPs matches - more than the carpet and the curtain :)
I wish there were more Valjes around here. To be honest, it is close to impossible
to get some of the older models in Europe. BnB, I always enjoy the photos of your Valje & Gon Bops.
A beautiful grain in the wood, that is the only thing that Siam oak has not really got.
But I cannot complain, I am glad I can play this set now, vintage drums definitely make a difference,
sounding like that.

Edit: Hey, the thread is where it started again :D
Peace & drum

Mike,
How are the mule's on them? What about the thickness? They match up nicley w/ the Valje. Great job :D

BTW sorry for adding my portion of thread jacking moments, this thread really morphed !

Thank you for the kind words, T :D
As to skin thickness: the mule skins are 2.5mm (quinto),
3mm (conga) and 4mm (tumba) thick,
a rather medium thickness with round open tones, quickly decaying, but
strong and somewhat resonant. Most important for me: you get very clear
tones out of all three, and crisp heel/toe and slaps.
Peace & drum

I am pretty sure big time rumberos all over the place including Cuba have used synthetic heads with great results and nobody have missed a beat because of it.

Let's see it.

Tremenda Rumba. I like what Jesus Diaz does on the quinto he is playing in a very minimalistic way.
You know less is more. Michael Spiro is pretty good and very knowledgeable. The man explain things
very well and I even have one of his conga books that I like.
