Nope , Never sell 'm again . In spite of these cracks I LOVE THESE CONGA'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .
The sound soooo sweet !!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll keep fixing them untill the day the are stable . (or there's nothing to crack left )
These cracks don't seem to affect the sound so far .
It only a matter of looks .
And i never cared much for looks (in drums , that is ... :D )

THE SHOULD SOUND GOOD!!!!!
If they look a bit crappy 'cause the filled up cracks , I don't give a f%ck !!!

I think that the cracks appear because of tension !

The lowest hole of the bracket is where these cracks appear .
Maybe the pressure from the inside out makes the cracks . By the tension from the skin .
The 2 top holes/bolts ar pushed inwards were as the lower hole/bolt is pulled outwards
That could explain why the crakcs are never verry deep.

Anybody with Bauwer Conga's Has/had the same problem here ?

Leedy Thanx !! Good thinking !! Thats precisly what i'm going to do !

I'll also take the rubber out on the inside of the backing plate so the wood can't move at all.

When i bought these conga's i knew the were going to give me trubble . But THE ARE WORTH IT !!!

Love'm !!!!!!!!!!!!!

So i did not go for de forth hole solution . The bracket has 3 hollow spaces and is cast steel .
I think that drilling wil weaken the bracket as cast steel can be a bit brittle !!

Instead i filled up the spaces with milliput and put a washer under the bracket at the lowest hole .
From the inside i took the rubber under the plates away (the fiberglass layer will protect the inside sufficiently)
So now the lowest part of the bracket is sandwitched between 1 washer on the outside and the bracket plate (with 2 of the same size washers )on the inside .
The outside bracket plate rubber i've put back on, too and forms quite nice around the washer . Then i tightend the bols with a little each until the where tight and put a little super gleu on them . (i always do that ; the bolts stay put and if you want to unscrew them the supergleu just brakes off )

There is no movement space for the wood anymore and i hope it will work .

:D Ive changed my plan .See my post lower

@ leedy
I think your brackets were not made of cast steel .
So drilling them is no problem .

@ Olsongo
Wy you asked of the conga's had a fiberglas lining ?

I found out another Bauer conga cracking problem cause .

The inside plate on the conga is metal with a rubber sheat between the plate and the tub .
The washers used bij Bauwer on the inside are small .
Because of the small washer and the rubber the inside plate deforms inwards caused bij the strain on the plate through the tightening of the screw .
The rubber makes movement possible ,the inside plate dents in to the rubber !! It makes a" point" around the the screw
The bolt pushes the washer in the plate and the deformed plate pushes against the rubber witch pushes into the wood on the inside .

the biggest cracks in mij conga ALL had these deformeties on the inner plate !

I have taken out all of the rubber inside .

And i put a washer on the lowest hole bolted it to the outside of the tub and scratched around the washer with a verry sharp knife .
Then i took a small chissel and chisseled about 2mm out of the tub .
Superglued the washer in it and filled it with supergleu sanded it flush .

The inside plate : I hammered all the holes flat again and also to harden the plate .
For the lowest holes i used 2 big washers (1.18 inch diameter )each and on top of them a slightly smaller washer .
On the the other holes 2 smaller washers each .
Then i put the brackets back on.
Tomorow i'll start tuning the drum and see what happens .
Will take a year or so to prove IF(????) it works !!

Hé CBD how are you ?
Nope never detune after playing . Never did .Dutch klimate is not so bad for conga's .
I know it took some nerve but , i use them a lot and have to take some action otherwise the'se Bauwers get f%cked up.

So i took quit a big risk .

Wanna sell yor Raul Conga ? :-)
