Hy congueros

does anyone know what to do to get rid of these fucking overtones that make me crazy ? I can't play anymore.. :(:(

I know that it's a matter of the corpus, not of the skin, so....
to Jonny: I tried that "tape-fixing"thing on the inside of the corpus, but it doesn't really help a lot (though it reduces the ringiness)... Is there any other material I could use, like some type of artificial foam or pieces of cloth (perhaps I'll try gluing that in) or does that reduce the loudness/boosting of the skinsignal too much ?

anyone any other idears, suggestions ?

Hi. You forgot to mention what kind of drum is it. Take Care.

Fiberglass will give you more overtones. A highly tuned head will give you overtones to death....

If you can, try putting a nice, thick cowhide or mule hide skin on the drums.

I have a set of wood LP Classics that had the cheap, thin water buffalo skins that LP puts on their drums. I was dissapointed in thier sound, considering the investment. However, at the advice of my teacher, I put some thick cowhide skins on the drums and they sound fantastic!

I would avoid the combination of fiberglass drums with plastic heads. Both create an overtone-filled sound.

Hi. Also, make sure there is no loose hardware.

Make sure each lug is tuned the same, then tune them equally from there.
