Hey guys im just starting out but i dont know if i should get one or two congas? and if there are any good instructional videos for congas?

Welcome my friend, let me be the first to welcome you.
You have found a fantastic site here. I am a newbie also, but have learned a great amount from these "MASTERS". They have the experience, so believe what they tell you. We are all here to help each other.
I found that the Bobby Sanabria "Getting Started On Congas" were very good. I have all three, but you still need a good teacher. Bill Matthews "Conga Joy" is also really good.
Good luck on this long journey.

WELCOME to OUR House, my new drum brother....Bobby's vieo's are a good start and I would also recommend Kalani on video also. He's a good instructor. Get your self the middle drum-conga, not a quinto or a tumba, buthe middle conga drum to start on. Pick up a Matador, there good starting congas......my 2 congas.....JC JOHNNY CONGA.... :;):

Thank You both for your replies they give me alot of help in my decisions and i wanted to know if you guys reccomend the Giovanni Compact Conga? i dont have a lot of space or money so i thought that would be a good start for me so if you could give me some info about it

Hey, I don't think I would recomend the Giovanni compact conga for a beginer. I can understand about not having a lot of space or money however it is worth it to get a good middle of the line conga, like Johnny Conga was saying. You can get a good matador on ebay at a good price. Learn how to play on a real wood conga so you can hold it right, feel it, and really get the experience of playing a conga. I have nothing against the Giovanni compact conga, I played one in the store and it sounded good except for no bass tone. If I was a beginner I would get a good wood conga and start from there. Get yourself the real thing!

JC & Jongo hit he conga on the head (haha) no pun intended. You should get a full size drum to start with. I think you would be alot happier than with the minis.

What congas do you reccomend out of these two. Im thinkin bout getting either the LP matador Fiberglass Congas or Pearl Bobby Allende congas which one do you guys reccomend?

it is better to choose LP. For me, these are the most reliable and well constructed congas.
I was in your position 2 years ago. I started with matador wood to try me, very soon I bought LP Giovanni wood for better sound and now I ordered galaxy fiberglass for brighter and louder sound.If you are willing to learn and study hard on congas try to save money and buy a pair of good congas 11 3/4'', 12 1/2'' because by learning day by day better and better, more and more you will search for better sound and you will spend money again.

Start with one solid well built wood drum. the conga 30" x 11.75" head.
If you by a lite weight one you'll grow to be dissapointed in its performance
real soon. The next investment in a year could be a better conga skin.
If you buy the best you can afford in the conga, you can get the matching
(if that's important to you) Tumbadora 12.5" next year as a "gift" to
yourself for practicing so hard. ..You'll deserve it by then!

well thank you for your suggestions isaac but i went ahead and bought me a Pearl Bobby Allende Signature Conga 11.75 28" tall it sounds great i went with fiberglass for more reliance so if it was in the heat and the cold it wont warp or hurt the conga but i know would will but maybe one day ill get some wood ones but for now in this learning process i think this a great conga. Thank you
