I would like to build a percussion setup for a jazz, jazz/latin-funk & house band but I don't know what the essentials are. So far I have 2 congas(conga & tumba), bongos, foot bracket with jam block and a shaker. What else do you think I would need to make a decent setup?

Hi, if you give me your email address I will send you some photo of different sets I usually use. I liked to send you through this site but I don't know how to put photos in the message. Nice to help you, Fabrizio. fabriperc@libero.it

Hi jbotz5,
I think that you could play jazz with only two congas.
You already have the instruments in order to play in jazz group.
Hasta la proxima.

jbotz, looks like your present set is intended to be played with hands only. In this case, I would add a tambourine and at least one medium caxixi. If you're going to play some ballads, then windchimes are "mandatory".
If you can also use sticks, then you can add one or two cowbells, some splash cymbals, one small diameter timbale... but all depends on what and how the drumset is played...
And take a look to the various set that fabrizio is making (for him, and for several other percussionists)... that guy is crazy!!! :p

These prices are from German musicstore. I doubt you'll find these much cheaper in Sweden?

Hello Fabrizio, I'd also love to see your pictures of different setups.
I [lay with differnt groups and different styles so I'm always trying
new setups - but I have yet to find one that pleases everyone.
