I am going to need some very stable sit down conga stands for use in a drum circle.I don't want to let others use my drums if there is any chance of them tipping over has any one used some that they are happy with.

The LP Collapsible Cradle with Legs is the most versatile conga stand available and is the choice of professional conga players. It is fully height adjustable and collapses to only 3" high! This stand fits all conga models and has molded-rubber shell grippers that are spring loaded. Made of highly polished heavy gauge steel, it incorporates tubular legs and braked casters.

A model without legs is also available to raise the drum 3" to 4" off the floor for seated playing

LP Collapsable cradle without legs: part number: LP635
As seen here:

Very stable stand, the most sturdy I have ever used.
I use this model, but with legs as seen below:

A cheaper alternative is the following: (I also have one of these which I use in combination with a LP double conga stand.

LP Part number: LP278

The simple, time-tested design of the LP Super Conga Stand is reliable, tough and fits all LP Congas.

This stand is height adjustable and features removable legs for lower, seated playing. Extra rubber feet are included to protect the floor.

The LP Super Conga Stand features heavy gauge steel construction with a highly polished finish and molded rubber shell grippers.

Yes Billy Hydes stock it. If not in stock currently, can be ordered through the importer and have in in a short time frame.
Not sure on price as I dont work there. If you ring you will get quoted retail 'walk in' price.
They always look after my students though, if you are going to be in Sydney, let me kow, I'll go in with you and see what they can do for you.

Have been a sit down player for years using the LP278 Super Conga Stands to hold my three babies, and they work like a charm, keeping the drums solid and stable regardless of how energetic the play or who bumps into them. I would suggest however, you purchase an extra set of rubber shell grippers, since over time (especially if you insert and remove the congas from the stands regularly) they will wear out.

There are some wooden stands available, too. I don't own one of these yet but have been looking at them recently. If interested check them out at: http://www.percussionstands.com

I think the wood w/ wood is nice !!
