They're OK, but nothing special. Similar to
Matadors I would say. In fact most brands
are interchangeable these days with their
factory mass production. It's all about
a polished look - and no big attention to
the quality of the skins in any of them.
My 2 centavos.

thanks isaac.....after some research, i agree with you....unfortunately, to get a really "special" product, you have to pay BIG bucks.....and for someone like me, who is just a recreational player, it's hard to justify........so i ended up getting the TOCA custom deluxe editions.......although i was close to getting the LP classics......thanks for your input!

I know you are a recreational player , ii am also , the tocas you baught are good congas . You will be the one making them sound good . Thats the bottom line 'cause i 'm sure that if giovany played on a pair of matadors he would sound alot better than most all of us on lp paladiums .

Here is a pic of the new Gon Bop California Model Supertumba I received.

by the way, I etched off the logo "Gon Bops" which was on the head, shameless self promotion on their part... :D

Alafia Caballoballo!
¡Espero que todo este bien contigo mi hermano!
Yes, Gon Bops is back in business, although they are run by a different company (DW) I believe. Their website is located at http://www.gonbops.com they have a list of drums, two different styles actually. The California Models are what looks like their hi-end model, and their Tumbao series is more of their general model drums. I'm attaching a couple of pictures of their California model bongo.

¡Oye brothel! I got a call, last minute, to work a trio gig last night at a resort called the Wrigley Mansión (built by the Wrigley Gum founder). I worked with a classical guitarist and a classical flautist. Interestingly enough, the “client” wanted us as background music, so I hardly hit the skins and later picked up my check for the evening. Have fun on your gigs mi pana!

Alafia Abures!
I hope that you are all well and in an abundance of blessings!
I had ordered a set of 3 California Series Gon Bops back in March of this year, and today I received one of them. I ordered two Supertumbas (13 1/4") and one Tumba (12 1/4"), but when they were being shipped, the knucklheads only had painted two drums and not the third, so they kept one to match the color! So, anyway, here are a couple of pics of the Supertumba, the sound is quite good to tell you the truth, and the weight is slightly more than the LP Classics. I'm happy with it!
