When measuring your current conga head to replace with a new type head do you measure the bearing edge where your hand hits, or the outer lip that the ring grabs to tighten it? The only place I can find remo fyberskin heads is at music123.com they list the heads will fit "toca" LP "pearl" etc etc. but none say meinl and I have a headliner set would I just get the closest measuring match weather it lists my brand or not?

The reason im picking fyberskin is I need a bit more brighter/louder projection in my setting the church is filled with a lot of carpet and my sound is very dark and muffed so as I read here the fyberskins give a bit more overtone and loudness then the nuskyn <<spelling"???
Thanks for the tips in advance.

Far from complex bro, just that not many people been on/seen your thread.
Measure from the top of the heads. ie Edge to edge of the striking surface, not from the ring.
Meinls are usually in stadard sizes, I believe Remo accomodates for them. From my understanding fellow member on here Pidoca has recently fitted Remo skins to his Meinl Mongo Santamaria 11' quinto and 12.5' tumba.

Hey blessings to you all . i have a set of meinl exclusives and one of the problems that i have is that unless you have the mongo series or the floattune series its hard to find heads that fit them . The headliner series is a low end series . If you ask me , with all respect get rid of them and buy something better . you will never get that sound you are looking for in a set of headliners . With all respect .

well I cant get rid of them they belong to my church, but I plan on getting some LP aspires form at home and possiblly bring them to church here and there see how they play there, im almost sure thats a step up from headliners? If I have to go higher then that to get better then I will just stay with what I have because I dont make money from playing its for church and my enjoyment that I play and I can only afford so much quality. Then the bottom falls out :-)

Bataboom, have you considered the meinl luis conte series with traditional rims? The tuning process is most important when it comes to frequency in a place that has lots of carpets, or strangley angled ceilings. Good luck!

Hey man funny you should mension that... I narrowed my searching to two different conga brands, aspire which is my good price yet still a good brand way out, or I'm looking at the meinl louis conte artist congas as my next higher priced set. If I go with the Meinl I will have to get one at a time, and I do rather to look and the reviews of the meinl I do know the aspires are a bottom of the line brand for LP so Im trying to go with something a little better. The Louis Conte model is priced just right for me to get one at a time and Im thinking very hard about going that route because I do play some headliners in church and they do well for a bottom line set.

Thanks for the input.
