Remo Type 4 Nuskyn S Series Conga Head - for Meinl Headliners?

Ok I know the topic of skins has been a controversy and a thorn in people sides, but here is the deal.

I have a set of meinl headliners that I play at my regular gig the place is in contant tempature change and I need to go with synthetic heads. Looking all over the world for what fits these congas I have found only one type that actually says in writing that these heads will fit Meinl Headliners. Remo Type 4 Nuskyn S Series Conga Head

Has anyone used these? Has anyone used them on headliners? Has anyone with headliners use anything else that might fit besides these?

In the middle of playing one of my drums became noticiblly outa tune, I cranked it down a bit but still was off a tad, I didnt have the time to stop and fine tune it and I didnt think anyone would notice a few tunes but the music director told me after that he noticed and asked what I could do to fix this constant tuning problem, so I told him synthetic heads and he said go for it, so I have to get some and I needa make sure I get the right thing.

I appreciate anyones help and or info/experience with these congas and heads.

remo nuskyn are pretty decent heads.If you like syntethic heads that is.I do personally ,but i know of lots of others that dont.If you can get them to fit your meinl drums go for it.

Thanks for the comment on them, thats really what im trying to find out before I order, if they in fact fit with out any problems, from some one that may have tried them on headliners before.

Hi Bataboom.If i was you i would save the money that those remo skins will cost you and upgrade you headliner drums.those heads will make a difference but headliner are only an entry level drum.Maybe its an upgrade you need.

naa dont worry I been down that road, these headliners belong to the church that I play for and church isnt a place I can do a lotta tuning before the gig if you dig so I will get the remo skins for them to fix that problem. I would upgrade but I didnt buy them, however I agree with you thats why im getting my own set of artists series drums for myself. But these headliners do sound pretty good I must say. Your right on your suggestion but in this case Im just going to have to stay with them and do what I can to make the best of what I got.

I just came from measuring the heads and they measure at the playing surface bearing edge 9-1/2 and 10-1/2

So do I order a 10' for the 9-1/2 drum and a 11' for the 10-1/2 drum?

Bataboom..u can use 'baby powder" to keep the humidity off the drums and it will keep them in tune...as long as u know what the tunage is for both drums...G-bass drum and C for quinto.....a 4th apart , standard tuning.....peace..."JC" Johnny Conga...

Well the thing is this, they stay in the building all during the week with the a/c off, then on Wendsday night the a/c comes on I get there and play, I have to make quick adjustments by ear the only time I have to correctly tune them is on off days. So you can see in this situation its hard to keep them tuned right. I really need them to be like a drum set where you hop on them and play with maybe some minor adjustments here and there, because of the way we play and it being a church gig I cant jump on them and start tuning before church during prayer, so you see its kinda a unique situation where I think sythetic heads might help.

But what I cant figure out is why does westcoastdrums.com offers nuskyn heads for meinl headliner drums in sizes of 10-11-12 and I measured my heads at the playing surface they measure 9-1/2 small drum and 10-1/2 big drum, did I measure in the right place? This is what I measured>>>>>>

Is that the right place to measure or should I have went all the way to the inside of the rim on each side? That would have made it an even 10 and 11.

I looked hi and lo and I dont see any place that meinl makes smaller then a 10 & 11 set except for the Jr. Nino set which I dont have for sure.

The Bottom line is meinl makes 3 sizes in headliner series thats 10-11-12 I guess I answered my own question I must have to get the 10-11 nuskyn cause I sure dont have a 12'

I emailed Meinl and they said they never sold half sizes in headliners so the nuskyn in 10-11 will fit.
