Hello,
I'm a 21 years old man from Belgium.
I'm a drummer and classical percussionist.
In 3 years,, I'll become professional musician.
I'm very interested to buy my first pair of congas..
In the future, I think that sometimes I would play like percussionist but it's not my first job (first like drummer).
I've seen 2 pairs of congas:
1: Meinl Luis Conte Signature
2: Meinl Fiberglass series

I have some questions:
- The congas must be versatile : for playing rock, pop,funk,...
- The Luis Conte have enough projection? because I've heard that fiberglass congas have more projection and power?
- I want keep the set of congas for many years, so it's important to have a good pairs of them.
Have you others propositions in this range of price (600-700$ max.)for a quinto and a conga?

Thanks for your advice!

I dont have experience with a not of different brands, but I must say I just got my Luis Conte model quinto in yesterday and wow... I love it looks great sounds great fat drums! To me the fiberglass congas would prob. last longer and yeah project more I have read. People here will also recomend LP matadore, LP classic, Potato model fiberglass, Pearl Primo etc... they are all good drums I read.

the best fiberglass ever conga made are the LP GALAXY by KEVLAR. To play acoustic use WOOD. to Rock funk FIVERGLASS.

Hola hermanos,

I am not a Conga Player but I am involve in music all the time, play with a band,DJ,I see differents band Congueros every week. Imho If you are going to invest on a set of Congas, buy a good set from start so you will not waste money looking for that elusive particular sound. Check Volcano Percussion,Moperc,Timba,JCR,Sol,Isla Percussion, they all are hand made Wooden Congas of exeptionall quality, kind of expensive but you will not be dissapointed of their sound. They are all online. My 3 cents
