I just realized there is a better forum for this...please move it to the right place if I have goofed here. Sorry for the blooper.
Hello everyone! First of all, I am not Dr cluck. I do want to recommend him as a great ebay store, though. He just listed a product specifically so I could buy it...yes I bought a second Sonor Champion conga in 12 1/2 inch head size. I have played the Sonor conga enough now to realize this is a killer deal. I moved my set into tonights gig location, and the sound is fantastic in the live location, just like the Schallochs are. Still, I think the Sonor nips them in the tone category by quite a little bit. The skins are nearly twice as thick, and really sound it. For my budget, I just have to have a set of two of these...maybe three eventually (if the wife won't leave me...need her more)
While many of you prefer the higher level drums, and can afford them, I can't. Dr cluck's also sells the LP line at good prices for folks who have the cash. I believe he is also a Toca dealer, and maybe pearl, too. Check him out
I mainly wanted to harp on his fantastic service. Since this is my second purchase, he shipped it today without waiting for the e-check to clear. Very cool, and the first drum was quickly shipped anyway (within 2 days). Being Friday, this good service cut the delivery time by two full days, the usual e-check clearing time.
When I e-mailed him with questions on the manufacturing location, type of wood, etc, he was extremely prompt in answering. I'm still waiting for the same answers from Sonor and Hohner. He even corrected an advertizing error on the spot as he listed the drum when I e-mailed him about it today.
Very competent retailer/wholesaler. If you're looking for good prices and great service, give him a try.
God bless!
