Conguero's!

Hope all is well -- I just ordered a set of Gon Bops CA Series and can't wait! However, while I am waiting, I know some of you have already received yours, what can you tell me about them, what are your initial reactions, how do you rate them, if you had to compare Palladiums to these, can you? is there a comparison? What style are you playing with the Gon Bops CA Series? what color did you order/receive ...

Like a kid in line at a candy store, I'm waitin' w/ a smile, jumpin' up and down!

Alafia Abures!
I hope that you are both well and in an abundance of blessings!

Como esta mi pana Franc!
Espero que todo este bien contigo!

Abure CongaKing, if you look at the following thread "CongaSet and accessories » Gon Bops"
you'll find some pics I posted, as well as commentary!

I'm excited for you as well, I couldn't wait to get my drums, they're still preparing the last Supertumba that I had ordered, I should receive it by June now!

As for the style of music I play with them, it's mainly latin/salsa/charanga. The bottom is way to deep to try and make them work with any other style in my opinion. For the other gigs I have some Patatos. I actually played my GonBops this Sunday on a Latin gig! Wow! They sounded fantastic brothelito!

Many blessings!
Onile!

Hola Frac y Onile (mi hermano's de conga con madre' differente'!) (que?)

Frac, I sold my Palladiums and put in another $200.00 to upgrade my set to a set of custom built/color Gon Bops Ca series! Living in CA, I called DW and asked if I can pick them up when they are ready (early July), I also asked if I can get a tour, meet some of the team that worked on my congas and meet Akbar ... they answered yes to all (as long as they're available and Akbar is in, that is!) I gave the customer service rep at DW my order number and he tells me that he'll send pics of my congas getting built along the way starting with the 1st stave picked to the paint job!

Onile, que' bueno your congas! I originally ordered a conga, tumba and super tumba but just changed the super tumba to a quinto (today) as I've heard that the bottom on the super tumba is DEEP! I ordered a special tobacco/koa wood finish ... kinda like a tigers eye. 89 days to go!

ciao

Congratulations! Those should be some very interesting photos....Sounds like a very cool place to buy from. Now the crazy waiting starts...will you have to play on boxes for awhile, or do you have other congas?

God bless!

Hi Ron,

The percussion store where I purchased the Gon Bops from is letting me use their house set of Giovanni Galaxy's! Not for a solid 3 months but 2 - 4 days at a time ... works for me ... also something I asked for before placing the order ... never hurts to ask ... if you don't ask, you don't get!

The store has a great team and they really cater to their customers! That's the beauty of a local percussion store!

Ciao,

Alafia Abures Franc, Bongoron y CongaKing!

To tell you the truth, Abure MCO isn't too far off with his estimate of time, he and I seemed to have ordered our drums (he ordered bongoces), around the same time. I placed my order in March of 05', and only received two of them in March of 06'. I would have received all three, however someone else seems to have wanted one of them and beat me to it. Someone beat me home and took one of them.

Anyway, if it's as Abure CongaKing states, which is what I've also been told this time, then we should be lucky. Abure CongaKing, I've been dealing with "Nick", is that who you're talking with? He has been a super cool guy about this whole process. Much love out to him!

¿Ay cariño o no ay cariño?

Onile!
