hey guys,
i just spent the day trying out a few types of congas. i had an LP day last week and today was toca (with a bit of meinl that i found rather dull)...
i tried toca traditional and sheila E and was pleasently surprised. i really didn't expect a lot from these drums just because the name's not really out there that much. but i was really impressed with the tone of the traditionals (which i tried first). the tone was full and sweet... however they were quite dull when it came to the slaps and pops.
i went accross town to try the sheila e sigs and i think i found my new set. they really crack whilst maintaining quite a warm tone. i think they're a great middle between something like the toca trad and other brighter models by other more popular brands. not to mention harvey fredes plays a set of these... that's gotta mean sumthin eh?
anyway they seemed quite durable with the white plastic finish, they sounded great and the low trad hoops were comfy. i think i've found my new pair.
anyone tried these? anything drastic i'm missing?
thanks guys, you're friggin great
